Beyond Vesak 2010

Following the success of Vesak 2010 festival, a grand global event – VESAK 2011 is planned under the distinguished patronage of H.E. The President of Sri Lanka.

Additional Film Categories.

Apart from the earlier Short, Feature, Documentary, Animated and Mobile film categories three new film categories have been introduced to the film competition. Childrens Films, Buddhist Music Videos and Docu dramas.

We’re in the process of updating the Vesak 2011 website and more details on these new categories will be posted on the site once its complete.

FILM Workshops.

Workshops are conducted on film making once a month at the BMICH for the filmmakers who have submitted films for Vesak 2010 and 2009. Those who are interested in  joining these workshops anew can do so by emailing a script of their film to info@lightofasiafoundation.com

“Prince Siddhartha – The Buddha” – Epic Motion Picture.

The epic on the life of Prince Siddhartha is currently in the pre-production stage. Locations finalized in Nepal, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Call for ACTORS will begin.

When the winning short films were screened, what was immediately apparent to me was the level of professionalism in the films.   I was quite awestruck and humbled by the sheer efforts that went into the creation and production of  all the films.
Ayubowan. It means “may you live long”.  That’s what you will hear most often in Sri Lanka.

The International Buddhist Festival which is being held at the BMICH from May 9 to May 12, 2009, offers a unique opportunity for Sri Lankans as well as foreigners to discover the rich legacy of Buddhism.

The Festival will set the precedence for the Buddhist Resurgence that will take place in 2011 the year which marks the 2600 anniversary of the Enlightenment by ascetic Siddhartha.
